Sharing my work-in-progress portfolio on Twitter brought invaluable feedback from friends, prompting me to rethink and refine. After digging into what makes a great portfolio, here are some insights. Hope it helps others too!

  1. Generic or Basic Stuff Everyone Does:

Avoid commonplace projects like Todolist or TikTokToe games; they're great for learning but not for showcasing your skills. Distinguish your portfolio with unique features, reflecting your style and creativity. 🌟

  2. Projects Without a Purpose:

Building without solving real problems doesn't highlight your problem-solving skills. ❌

  3. Copy-Paste and Overemphasis on Tutorials:

Refrain from replicating tutorials without adding your touch. Showcase your ability to work independently on unique challenges. 🧠💡

  4. Unfinished or Abandoned Projects:

Skip including incomplete work to avoid creating an impression of less commitment. Highlight completed projects or clearly indicate the project's status. 🏁

  5. Complicated Projects Without Explanation:

Don't showcase complicated projects without clear explanations. Make your projects easy to understand. Ensure comprehensive project documentation to aid understanding—document the project structure, features, and how to run it. 📚💻

  6. Forgetting to Credit Teammates:

If you collaborated, give credit. Taking all the credit for a team project isn't cool. 🤝

  7. Outdated Technologies:

Including projects with outdated technologies may suggest a lack of keeping up with industry trends. Showcase your adaptability with modern tech stacks. 🔄

  8. Lack of Mobile Responsiveness:

In a mobile-centric world, ensure your projects are accessible across various devices for a seamless user experience. 📱

Let's craft portfolios that not only showcase skills but also highlight creativity and problem-solving ability. 🚀
